Waste Management Poole are a UK based business with expertise in hazardous waste collection as well as the safe disposal of WEE, compound, laboratory (lab smalls), dangerous (haz waste) and specific waste. We also carry out important company documentation tasks including local waste management Company Registration (Assumption Code) if required.
Do I need to register my assumptions?
Normally, if your assumptions or company makes or holds 500kg or more of hazardous waste in a single year, then under the Hazardous local waste management Regulations 2005, you’ll have to enroll.
This means that even if the hazardous waste wasn’t created at your site, you have to still enroll. If you have more than one premises within your company each site needs to be separately registered and have their particular premise code. If the volume of hazardous waste is lower than 500kg in any one year, you’re automatically classed as exempt and don’t need to enroll.
When we register your assumptions we give you a unique assumptions number called a ‘assumptions code’. The enrollment is not only a company enrollment. The regulations stipulate that each site that produces hazardous waste has to have another enrollment, although multiple sites can be registered on precisely the same telling. Consequently each site will have a separate unique registration number and need a separate fee.
The premise code is required to be shown on the Unsafe local waste management Consignment Note before any collections can go ahead. So any company who is not registered with the Environment Agency as a producer of waste (and creating more than 500kg per year, per site) Can’t have their waste collected lawfully and is actually commiting an offence just by generating the waste.
If hazardous waste continues to be generated or held at these assumptions after the 12 month period has lapsed, then the assumptions code has to be rekindled.
